FAQs
“With X-Force equipment, I had supervised the training of 145 people - and the results, both in fat loss and in muscle gain, were significantly better than any similar groups I had trained in my fifty years of doing research”
– Ellington Darden, PhD, World Renowned Strength Training Expert
Why X-Force?
X-Force are revolutionary resistance training machines featuring a unique computer-controlled weight stack system that offers 40% more resistance on the lowering phase of the lift. Increasing weight on the lowering phase forces muscles to achieve a deeper level of stress and exhaustion, which stimulates hormones to burn more fat and build more muscle effectively.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?
We came to AVL in 1994 and established the very first personal strength training studio Fitness One-on-One. My father Hope James, now 87, continues to live longer stronger. With over 56 years in the exercise industry and 10 mega health clubs under his belt, he stands the tests of time. He started way back at the Old American Health Club in Virginia Beach at age 19. By 1980, he owned and operated some of the very first Nautilus training facilities in Virginia, including seven counties that constitute the Hampton Roads metro area, officially known as the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC.
WHAT DO I WEAR TO MY WORKOUT?
Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows mobility to perform the exercises and flat shoes. While athletic apparel is recommended, it’s not a requirement. Because the workout is only 30 minutes some clients will fit in their workout before work or on their lunch hour in jeans or pants.

WHAT DO I EAT BEFORE AND AFTER MY WORKOUT?Ω
When preparing for your X-Force strength workout, proper nutrition is essential to optimize performance and recovery.
Before
Focus on carbohydrates such as whole grains, oatmeal, or a banana to fuel your workout. Protein is also beneficial and reduces breakdown during exercise. Options include foods like hard-boiled egg, Greek yogurt, or a protein shake. We recommend eating 1-3 hours before your workout to avoid digestive discomfort.

After
Emphasize protein and carbs to support recovery. Proteins such as beef, lean chicken, fish, tofu, or protein shakes help repair and build muscle. Carbs like fruit, sweet potatoes, or rice help replenish glycogen, which helps muscles recover.

Hydration
Don’t forget to hydrate before, during, and after your workout with water or natural electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid the sugar!
